IRELAND'S World Cup team-mates Keane Barry and Willie O'Connor finished off this year's PDC Players Championship in style by making it through to the latter stages today.

Meath man Keane had a strong run to the last eight of PC34, while O'Connor, who made it to the final of PC 33 yesterday, had to settle for semi-final spot today.

Both players will have been happy with their form as they stormed through the early rounds with some impressive performances.

Barty showed some bottle as he came through two last leg deciders in a row against Gabriel Clemens and Andrew Gilding as he enjoyed one of his best performances at the Players Championship this year.

He even defied a 98.05 average from Danny Noppert in the last 16, as Barry won that match 6-4 before he eventually fell to a staggering 112.29 average from Luke Woodhouse in the quarter finals.

For his part, O'Connor had an impressive opening win over former PDC world champion Michael Smith, before back-to-back 100-plus averages saw his beat Greg Ritchie and Ryan Miekle for the loss of just one leg.

O'Connor recorded further wins over Viktor Tingstrom and Jermaine Wattimena as he looked to make it to his second final in succession.

However he too fell to Luke Woodhouse as the Englishman emerged the 7-2 victor in their semi-final, before eventually losing out in the final to Wessel Nijman.
