FOUR more Irish players have qualified for the final phase of PDC Q School on the second day of action in Milton Keynes.
Former PDC tour card holder Ciaran Teehan has made it through to the finals stages, alongside Republic of Ireland captain Stephen Rosney, Carlow's Niall Culleton and Louth's Damien Grimes.
It means five Irish players have now gained automatic qualification into the second stage after the first two days of action, with Monaghan's Shane McGuirk making it on the first day.
Meanwhile, Dublin's Killian McCormack, Waterford star Paddy Quinn, Cork's Damien O'Driscoll and Mayo's Ultan McDyer also look to be certain of qualifying too, while Wexford's Jack Farragher, Kerry's Dale McCarthy and Offaly's Ronan McDonagh are also in and around the qualifying spots on the Order of Merit table.
Teehan secured his automatic qualifying spot with a victory in the last 32 over Dale Gatsby of England, having earlier earned victories over Callum Francis, Coni Sing Nagi, Harry Kelly and Scott Baker.
Carlow's Niall Culleton was in fine form too as he beat Robert Heard of Wales, fellow Irishman Dean Gallagher and England's Graham Usher to set up a decider against Same Jackson, which he won comfortably 5-2.
Reigning INDO Inter Counties singles champion Damien Grimes showed what he was about too as he advanced past Meath's Keith Rooney, former world champion Richie Burnett, Ben Townley and then James Richardson to secure his automatic spot into the final stages.
He will be joined there by Offaly's Stephen Rosney as he produced similar heroics to defeat three English men - Brandon Jones, Jake Eichin and Michael Burgoine - to set up a deicer with Cork's Damien O'Driscoll, which he won 5-1.
The third and final day of the first stage will be held tomorrow, when the remaining 21 Irish players will be looking to secure their spots in the final four days of action from Thursday.
