IT'S been a big weekend for Cork at the Munster Championships as Ciaran Teehan was crowned the men's singles champion before then leading Cork to victory in the team event on Saturday.
Former PDC tour card holder Teehan was in fine form on Friday night as he came through a packed field fo top talent to claim the singles title at Treacys West County Hotel in Ennis, Clare.
Teehan won seven games on the spin to win the Munster singles, with a notable victory over Limerick's Michael Flynn in the last 64 before going on to defeat Dylan Sinclair 7-5 in a high class final, averaging just over 90 in the process.
There was further success for Cork in the men's team event on Saturday when they claimed the Munster championship with a victory over a tough Waterford side in the final.
It was Teehan who got them off to the perfect start with a victory in the first game in that game, as Cork fended off the likes of Waterford's Ireland internationals Paddy Quinn and Dean Finn to record a 6-4 victory.
There was still some big success for Waterford also the weekend too, however, as their top Ladies player, Jade Lonergan won the singles before their team also went on to be crowned Munster champions.
Jade claimed victory in the Ladies singles on Friday night with a 4-2 win over Scotland's Karen Laurie.
And just like Teehan, she also went on to taste victory in the team event on Saturday, as the Waterford ladies took down Kerry in the final.
