THERE are a few counties with the strength in depth to dream of INDO Inter Counties success in both the men's and ladies competitions.
Mayo certainly fit into that category as they look to build on some strong showings over recent years.
The Mayo men's team will be seeded after making it to the last eight in 2025, with Joe King saying they will be aiming to go even better this year.
Joe told Darts In Ireland: "We have a strong backbone to the team and some great new additions.
"We have a couple of stalwarts in Martin McDonald and Martin Heneghan, who won't be involved this year, but so have some younger players coming through now who play at a very high standard.
"We also have the likes of Conor Heneghan and Ultan McDyer, who everybody knows from playing with Ireland and on the Modus Super Series, so that gives us a pretty strong, competitive men's team."
Joe is also over the Mayo ladies team and in confident they can taste success too.
The Mayo ladies have been in the past two Inter Counties shield finals, winning one of them, and Joe believes that silverware could be on the cards again.
He said: "Ladies darts is getting stronger in Mayo all the time, and we have some very strong players in this squad, including the likes of Sara Joyce, Patricia Joyce, Rachel King, Helena Murphy, Rosey Quigley, Helen Malone and Caitlin McDonald.
"So that's a strong lineup and we would hope to be very competitive with it."
