IT'S been an action packed first day of action at the INDO Youth Inter Counties championships as the group stages come to a close.
A number of top teams have already made their moved in some fascinating groups that will decide the order for the crunch knockout stages tomorrow.
Last years Youth Inter Counties champions Carlow are looking in good form again as they've stormed to the top of Group 1 ahead of a talented Monaghan A team, with Roscommon and Meath also in the mix.
The likes of Rebecca Allen, Jack Courtney, Jamie French, Luke Dooley and Daniel Nolan have shone for Carlow so far as they look to retain their title.
However they will have stiff competition from other counties, with the Tipperary team headed up by Ireland international Aidan O'Hara and including Shay Feeney, Ryan Norris and Ina Byrne also topping their group with some fine displays along the way.
Hosts Galway are also going well with the Galway D team, which includes Jonathan Ruane, Ryan Dowling and Gavin Murphy coming through a tough group with a very good Cork A team.
With up to 55 teams taking part, the Shearwater Hotel has been a hive of activity all day with the playing rooms packed out with players decked out in their county colours.
Dublin are well in the mix with both their A and B teams topping their groups, while teams from Offaly, Meath, Limerick, Kerry and Cork have also won groups.
That sets it up nicely for a very competitive knockout stage tomorrow, when up to a dozen teams or more will be vying for glory.
It all comes after brilliant Boys and Girls Inter Counties singles competitions on Friday evening.
Meath sharpshooter Charlie O'Connor came out on top in a brilliant Boys final over Carlow's Jack Courtney, while Rebecca Allen of Carlow won her third Girls Inter Counties title in a row with victory over Kilkenny's Ruby Grace.
