AFTER captaining Carlow to the INDO Youth Inter Counties title, Jack Courtney now has his sights firmly set on making the Ireland Boy's team for this year's Europe Cup.
He has done his chances of that no harm at all by also making a strong run to the final of the Boys Inter Counties singles in Galway last Friday night.
While Jack lost a top quality final to Meath's Charlie O'Connor, the eight ranking points he picked up has seen him jump to third in the ranking table with just two events to go.
Speaking to Darts In Ireland, Jack said he was confident he could make the four-man team this year, having just missed out in the last campaign.
He said: "The past weekend went very well and I was very happy to make it to the Boys final on Friday night. I ran out of a bit of steam at the end, but Charlie played very well in that final and deserved his win.
"But my goal this year is to get a spot on the Europe Cup team and I'm glad to be high up the ranking table now."

Meanwhile, Jack said he was proud that Carlow had manged to win the team event for the third year running.
He said it showed the strength of the Youth game in the county.
"We've a lot of good players really. Every Wednesday night we do training with the team and that has really helped to bring us together and get to know each other a lot more."
The strength is already starting to transfer onto Carlow's senior men's team, with Jack and his fellow youth player Luke Dooley making it onto the Carlow team for the recent INDO Inter Counties A championships.
Jack (15) said he enjoyed the experience of mixing it with the best men's players in the country as Carlow finished runners-up to Roscommon in the shield.
He added: "It was a great experience to play in my first men's All Ireland. I'll go again for the trials next year and try to make the team again.
"The standard was very strong and there's a lot of new players coming on the scene which is good for the game."
