THE Carlow Youth team capped off another brilliant weekend for them by winning their third INDO Inter Counties championship on the trot with victory over Westmeath in the final.
In a game that was of an exceptionally high standard, the Carlow team showed the quality and experience that has brought them so much success over recent years.
Rebecca Allen, who had won her third INDO Girls Inter Counties title on Friday night, was the star of the show in the final, firing in three 180s and posting the highest game average of 84.
However it wasn't all plain sailing for Carlow, as Westmeath's top player James Morris had got his team off to a flyer with a brilliant 3-0 win in the opening match of the final.
Morris showed exactly why he is considered one of the best young players in the country as he fired in a 15 dart leg and averaged just over 82 in his win over Carlow's Con O'Reilly.
However Carlow captain Jack Courtney, who was a beaten finalist in the Boys Inter Counties final, was just as impressive in the second game as he got his team back into the game.
Courtney also opened with a 15 dart leg as he too averaged just over 82 in his 3-0 win over John Morris.
If that was impressive, then Rebecca Allen was even more so as she fired in 16 and 15 darts legs, and her three maximums, in a sensational win over Westmeath's Conal Farrell.
It was then up to Jamie French to see Carlow home as he played steady throughout to beat Cian Gilchrist and ensure that Carlow would hold onto their crown.
