IRELAND captain Stephen Rosney says he's happy to have hit a bit of form again ahead of leading his country out at the Six Nations in Wales this weekend.

The Offaly star came through a tough field to win the double-start INDO Grand Prix title in Dundalk over the weekend to win his first trophy of the new ranking season.

The win puts Rosney back up amongst the top four in the rankings list, and is a timely boost head of his international duty.

Speaking after his win in the final over Kerry's Dale McCarthy, Rosney admitted he had been struggling over recent events to find his best form.

He said: "I haven't been playing great and I just wanted to get something going this weekend ahead of the Six Nations and thank God I did."

He also reserved special praise for the man he beat in the final, Dale McCarthy, who made it to the two ranking finals over the weekend, winning one of them, and is now the number one ranked player in the country.

Rosney added: "A big up to Dale as well as he had a fantastic weekend and played some fantastic darts."

He played some fantastic darts of his own, with his run to the final including wins over the likes of Carlow star Niall Culleton, WDF world champion Shane McGuirk and reigning INDO Inter Counties singles champion Damien Grimes.

The Republic of Ireland men's captain said he was now very much looking forward to international duty at the Six Nations, which is being hosted in Wales this weekend.

He reserved special praise for the Irish National Darts Organisation (INDO) for the help they give the players ahead of these big events.

He said: "The INDO do a great job behind the scenes. All we have to do as players is turn up and out flights and accommodation are there for us and that is  a big help."
