Byrne picks up crucial Modus win to keep in contention

IRISH darts star Robyn Byrne faces a big day at the Modus Super Series today as she aims to make it to finals night out of Group B.

Byrne currently sits two points off a qualifying spot from the group and is going to need to pick up at least two wins and hope some other results go her way to progress.

Her 3-0 win over Steph Clarke on Thursday night has kept Byrne in contention going into the final round of matches tonight.
A victory in her last match of the night over Trina Gulliver would have put Byrne into one of the three qualifying spots, but it's the English veteran who currently sits in that spot having won the game 3-1.

Their rematch today in the opening game could be the most crucial of all, with a win in that almost essential for Byrne now if she is to progress.
In a tough group, Byrne began last night with defeats to recently crowned Six Nations singles champion, Laura Turner, before a 3-1 loss to Gemma Hayter left her struggling in the group.
However Byrne produced her best performance in her third match with Steph Clarke, only missing one shot at a double to win 3-0.
It was a lifeline Byrne so desperately needed but she was unable to take advantage in the final match of the night against Gulliver when she struggled again on the outer ring to allow her opponent pick up the win.
