A host of the country's top youth players have made it through to the finals day of the new International Darts School League (IDSL) in Dublin in September.

Over 70 players battled it out in four provincial qualifiers across the country, making it one of the biggest IDSL qualifiers in the world.

Republic of Ireland Boys captain Jack Courtney is one of the 16 players to have made it through to the national finals day following the four provincial qualifiers over the last two weekends.

Carlow star Courtney won the Leinster qualifier and has been joined in the finals by beaten finalist David McDonagh, Laois star Shane Hogan and Meath's Aidan Keogh.

In Donegal town over the weekend, it was local star Jack Porter who came out on top in Ulster, beating Monaghan's rising prospect, Evan Tuite in the final, with Porter's fellow Donegal players Jackson Timoney and Tallan Mitchell also making it through to the national finals day.

On Sunday, Mayo's Eddie Sweeney was crowned the Connacht champion after he defeated Galway's Gavin Murphy in the final, while Finn Ruane of Mayo and Leitrim's Jamie McGovern have also qualified by making it into the final four.

Meanwhile, in Munster, it was Cork's Callum Coade who took the honours ahead of his fellow Rebel county players  Allen Moore and Waterford's Johnny Smith.

All 16 players will now compete in the national finals day in Dublin on September, with the overall champion winning a spot at the IDSL Championship Finals in Portsmouth in November.

The IDSL is the brainchild of former PDC star Devon Peterson.

Devon said: "We now have our 16 Irish finals qualifiers and the 6th September will be an opportunity to crown the Championship qualifier.

"Congratulations to all the players who participated in the IDSL Series in Ireland as we start a new chapter in the sport of darts."
