A good day at the PDC Women's Series got even better for Donegal's Denise Cassidy as she made it all the way to the final eight of Event 18.

It only took the brilliance of eventual winner Beau Greaves to stop the Republic of Ireland star in her tracks, as she had won four games on the spin prior that.

Her run began with a 4-3 win over the opponent who had knocked her out in the last 16 of Women's Series 17, Angela Kirkwood, before Cassidy also took care of English pair Stacey Ellis and Carly Chenery to win her board and advance to the latter stages of the competition.

Cassidy went one step further this time, however, as she defeated Evonne Taylor 4-2 to set up the match with Greaves in the quarter finals.

She began that game well, sharing the first two legs with Greaves, before the young English woman took a grip on the game by winning the next three legs.

Cassidy pulled one back before Greaves wrapped up the match with a stunning 13 dart which he started with two maximums.

Cassidy's fellow Ireland international Aoife McCormack also had a decent run, as she made it to the last 16.

McCormack was in brilliant form early on, as the Kilkenny woman averaged 74.07 in defeating Kerry O'Connor, and then upping it to an impressive 83.50 in her defeat of Marie Fitton.

McCormack kept her run going with a 4p-0 win over Leanne Halls to advance to a last 16 clash with Noa Lyn Van Leuven.

That's where her run ended as Van Leuven came out a 4-1 winner in that game.

Elsewhere, Carlow teenager Rebecca Allen is still searching fir her debut Women's Series win after she went down to Paula Jacklin, while Robyn Byrne had a 4-0 win over Leanna Hadfield before she was beaten by the event runner-up Aileen De Graaf in the last 32.
