Lennon has good run at PDC Players Championship

STEVE Lennon was the best of the Irish at PDC Players Championship 24 today as made it through to the final 16.

The Carlow man was in excellent form, winning three games on the spin two win his board in Milton Keynes.

The run saw Lennon defeat Rusty Jake Rodriquez 6-3 in his opening game at the Marshall Arena.

He put in his best performance of the day in the next round when he defeated Andrew Gilding 6-1 with a 100.47 average.

That put Lennon through to his board final with in-form 14th seed, Jermaine Wattimena, and he again came out on top with a 6-1 win.

Lennon's run was only ended in the last 16 when he fell to a 6-4 defeat to Karel Sedlacek in a high quality game.

Despite winning the first three legs of that game, Lennon was pegged back as Sedlcek won four legs on the trot, and then the final two legs in just 27 darts.

Lennon's former World Cup finalist team-mate, Willie O'Connor also feel to Sadlacek in the last 64, having won his opening match over Stefan Bellmont.

Dylan Slevin and Keane Barry also picked up wins in their opening games against Jack Tweddel and Jelle Klaasen, before both were dumped out in the last 64 by Brett Claydon and Dave Chisnall respectively.
