Irish Ladies storm into another World Cup final

THE Republic of Ireland Ladies team have stormed into their second WDF World Cup final in succession after a flawless day of action from them in Seoul, South Korea.

The defending World Cup champions will now face off against Australia tomorrow in their bid to retain the title they won two years ago.

Their run to the final saw them survive a mighty scare against Wales in the last 16 when captain Robyn Byrne held her nerve to win the deciding last leg to complete a 9-8 victory for Ireland.

The Irish team, also made up of Katie Sheldon, Aoife McCormack and Denise Cassidy, never looked back after that as they beat a much fancied  Netherlands team 9-3 in their quarter final, and repeated that scoreline against Philippines in their semi-final clash.

It means the Irish ladies will be going for gold in Seoul tomorrow when they come up against Australia, who made the final after defeating Scotland in their last four game.

Team manager Kevin Devaney has expressed his pride in the team, as they bid to emulate their WDF World Cup win in Denmark in 2023.

"These ladies are class," Kevin told Darts In Ireland following their semi-final win.

"I've no doubt they will do the country proud in the final tomorrow."
