Sean sets his sights high after big ADC wins

DUBLIN darts star Sean McKeon says he hopes his double win at the ADC Ireland events last weekend will push him on to greater things for the rest of the year.

McKeon was in superb form at the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan last Sunday as he won a coveted spot at the ADC UK and Ireland Classic in November.

He came though that qualifier with big wins over the likes of Dylan Dowling and Ronan McDonagh to join already qualified Killian McCormack and Stephen Rosney in  representing ADC Ireland in the UK and Ireland Classic.

McKeon then followed that up by also winning the Isle of Ireland Round Robin event, beating Leitrim's Ben Mulvey in the final of that.

Sean told Darts In Ireland that the wins will give him confidence for the rest of the year.

He said: "I was especially pleased to get a win over Ronan in the Classic qualifier final, as he's such a good player and I've been on the receiving end of 90 plus averages from him before.

"To qualify for that tournament is really good for me as it means I'm guaranteed some money going over to Aylesbury now, so I'll definitely be going over there to give it a good bash."

Sean will be back in action this weekend at the INDO Singles ranking event in Ballina, when he will aim to keep his good form going.

He added: "I'm playing very consistently at the moment and these wins give me a bit of confidence going into this weekend.

"Especially as I have had a mare in the INDO rankings weekend so far this year. But I'm looking forward to this weekend and hopefully win my first INDO maybe."

The former INDO Inter Counties Youth champion said that standard at the INDO events remains stronger than the ADCs.

He said: "The ADC is only new and it is up and coming. It's good for the amateur side of the game and there is a lot of opportunities now.

"But the INDO will always be the main goal for most players as that's how you get onto the Ireland teams and the events are run so well by Kevin Devaney and his committee.

"For my own game I need to be playing regularly against the better standard of player out there if I'm going to progress, as I have Q School and the World Masters coming up over the next while."
