DONEGAL darts star Chris Dunnion says he hopes for further success after his impressive event win in Division B of the INDO Players Championship in Ballina.
Chris won the fifth and final event in Group B to finish in the top eight in the table and advance to finals night as one of the favourites to win it outright and claim a coveted spot at the 2026 WDF World Masters.
He is the fifth separate event winner in Division B, highlighting just how tough a competition it has been.
Chris told Darts In Ireland: "I'm absolute buzzing to pick up an event win. I only actually played in three of them, as I couldn't make the first two, so I'm delighted to have finished where I've finished in the table."
His run to the Division B final saw Chris defeat a previous event winner, Ben Mulvey, 5-1 in the last 16, before then beating Mulvey's fellow Leitrim man Charlie McDermott in the last eight.
That set up a semi-final clash with Andrew Dempsey, which Chris won 5-1 with an impressive 82.19 average, before he held his nerve in the final to overcome Edward McDonald 5-3.
Chris said winning an event now gives him the belief he can go on and win finals night too.
He said: "I have full confidence now after getting over the line there, and the belief that by winning I belong at this level."
And he admitted that qualifying for the WDF World Masters is now a big goal.
"That would be absolutely fantastic," Chris added.
"To actually go and play at a high level like that is something that is made of dreams. It would be dream come true."
Meanwhile, there was further good news for Chris after he was also confirmed over the weekend to have been selected for the Donegal B team for next year's INDO Inter Counties.
He said that was as special as winning the Players Championship event.
Chris added: "Just to cap it all off I've been called up to the Donegal B team, which is great, as it's a real honour to represent your county. There is a lot of quality players on that team and I'm really looking forward to playing with them.
"It's been a big weekend for me."
