BOTH Killian McCormack and Denise Cassidy were simply lost for words after securing major INDO ranking titles on Sunday with superb wins in the National Singles.
Dublin darts star McCormack came into the final ranking event of this calendar year needing to at least make the final to secure a spot on the Republic of Ireland team for the Island Internationals in January.
He went one step better by going on to win the event outright, coming from two sets down in the final to Donegal's Gerard McGlynn to win the trophy.
His emotion afterwards showed just how much it meant to McCormack, who has now made it onto the Ireland team for the past three years in a row.
McCormack's route to the final was tough, as he first had to navigate a tough opening round against Neilie Brouder, before further victories over Alan Hegarty, John McCarthy and Adrian Devine for the loss of just one set, put him into a semi-final with Carlow's Niall Culleton.
With Culleton needing to win the event outright to stand any chance of making the Ireland team himself, it was McCormack who edged a superb semi-final as he came from a set down to win 2-1.
His performance in the final was even more impressive, as McCormack had to withstand an early battering from Gerard McGlynn to eventually prevail 3-2.
He fell two sets to nil down as McGlynn won those opening two sets with a not a single leg going above 15 darts.
McCormack managed to pull himself off the ropes and win the third set 3-2, before rattling off three legs on the spin to level the match up at two sets apiece.
The last set went right to the very last leg with McCormack holding his nerve to complete a brilliant 13 dart leg on double 18.
Meanwhile, Donegal's Denise Cassidy pulled off an equally impressive win against her World Cup winning team-mate Katie Sheldon in the ladies final.
Denise was in excellent form throughout the competition, winning Group C with four wins out of four, for the loss of just one leg.
That set her up for a quarter final clash with Leitrim's Olive McIntyre, which Denise won 2-0 by win six legs on the spin.
Her semi-final with her Ireland captain Robyn Byrne started equally as well as Denise won the opening two legs before Robyn hit back to win the opening set 3-2.
Denise dug deep from there to come from two legs down herself in the second set to win it 3-2 and then came from 2-1 down in the deciding set to advance to the final.
Despite losing the opening leg in that to Katie Sheldon, Denise then rattled off the next six legs without reply to claim the National Singles trophy.
