CONOR Heneghan enjoyed a near perfect day at the Modus Super Series as he won four of his five games to storm up the Group A table.
The Mayo man beat all but the group leader Joe Croft to put himself in with a great chance of advancing to Group B later in the week.
He may even still have had a chance to win the group and qualify for finals night outright had he beaten Croft, but will be happy with his day's exploits nonetheless.
Having two two points on the board as he came into the second day of Group A action, Heneghan set about improving on that with some impressive gritty performances.
He got his day to a winning start with a 4-3 win over Jason Heaver, and then built on it from there.
A 4-2 over Zeresa Zeverboom in his next match gave Heneghan the momentum he needed to put a decent run together, as he followed that up with a 4-1 win over Jamie Owens with an impressive 89.12 average.
His only defeat of the day came in his next match to Croft, who posted a superb 92.07 in defeating the Irishman 4-2.
Heneghan didn't let that put him off his stride, however, as he gave himself every chance in the group by taking down second placed Jeff Smith 4-1 in his final game of the day.
It means he's within striking distance of a top three spot that would secure him a place in Group B, with one day of Group A action tomorrow.
