Heno grabs Group B spot after another brilliant day at Modus

CONOR Heneghan has secured a spot in Group B at the Modus Super Series after another excellent day for him at the Live Lounge.

For the second day running the Mayo man would four of his five games to finish third in the group, just two points off top spot.

Only for a slow start on the opening day, Heneghan may well have won Group A outright and qualified for finals night on Saturday.

However he will still very much fancy his chances of getting there after claiming a spot in Group B with another great run of wins.

It means he is now in a group in which three out of five will qualify for finals night, instead of in Group C in which only two out of six will get through.

He got there today by opening with an impressive 4-3 win over Series 11 champion, Jeff Smith, recording a 92 average in the process.

Despite losing his next game to the eventual Group A winner, Joe Croft,  Heneghan got back into the winning groove with a whitewash 4-0 win over Jamie Owens.

He kept the momentum going with a 4-2 over Zereso Zerverboom, and then secured his place in Group B just ahead of Jeff Smith by finishing out with another 4-2 win, this time over Justin Heaver.

He will be joined in Group B tomorrow night by Owens, with both hoping to take the momentum from the past few days into that and qualif for finals night.
