Joker in the pack at Modus

IT'S a big day for Irish darts star John O'Shea at the Modus Super Series as he sits just two points off the top of the Group A table after two days of play.

The Corkman has kept himself in contention with a series of big wins yesterday in a tight group that could be won by any of four players.

The Joker will be hoping it will be him as he aims to qualify for finals night on Saturday without having to go through Group B or Group C later in the week,

After picking up two Group A wins on the opening day, O'Shea added another three victories on Tuesday to keep himself very much in contention.

Back-to-back wins over David Airey and Steven Johnstone over the course of Monday and Tuesday has gone a long way to keeping O'Shea in the group, sitting just two points off leader Patrick Klingelhofer.

However with three players already tied on 12 points at the top of the table, the Joker still has a bit of work to do to emerge victorious from Group A,  or at least go into the easier Group B later in the week.

Only a last leg defeat in his final match to Justin Smith denied O'Shea the chance to also be on 12 points.

It means a victory over the same opponent in his opening match today is paramount if O'Shea is to launch a bid to win the group outright.
