IRELAND Ladies international Denise Cassidy said she was delkighted to claim the Irish Open Pairs title with her partner Lorraine Hyde today.

However the Donegal star admitted it was tough to play against her fellow Irish World Cup winners Robyn Byrne and Katie Sheldon in the decider at the INEC Arena in Killarney.

Denise and Scotland's finest Lorraine had to dig deep to overcome Robyn and Katie, coming from 4-1 down to win a superb final 5-4.

Afterwards, Denise told Darts In Ireland: "It was great to come back and win a game like that, but it's tough for me to play against my Ireland team-mates.

"We had some chances in the first two legs which might have made the scoreline a bit different, but thankfully we got more chances as the game went and we took them.

"It was great to get such a big win with Lorraine and I'm delighted with that."

In the Men's Irish Open Pairs final, experienced American David Futon and his partner Garrett French had to come from 3-0 down to defeat local lads Liam Tobin and Jake Reenstierna 5-3 to claim the title.

The former PDC players said he was pleased to add the Irish Open to his list of career achievements, and praised his young opponents in the final.

"It was two older players against two young guys in the final today and we just managed to come through it, but it's the young players like these two who are the future."

There was a strong Irish presence in the latter stages of the mens pairs, with three of the four semi-finalists being Irish.

However the pairings of Dylan Quinn and Killian McCormack and Damien Grimes and William O'Toole just missed out on making the final as they lost out in their last four clashes.
