Gallagher aims for more after advancing from ADC Global Championships group

DONEGAL darts star Dean Gallagher says he is pleased to have advanced to the next stage of the ADC Global Championships at the Live Lounge in Portsmouth.

Gallagher managed to pick up three big wins to take one of the four qualifying spots up for grabs from Group 6.

It means he will now take his place in the second stage groups next week, when just the eight group winners will advance to the Grand Finals on January 4.

The Donegal man confirmed his place in the second stage with a crucial 4-1 win in his final game of the day over Vicky Cauteruccio.

That gained him the final qualifying spot over Patrick Dekker on leg difference.

While pleased to have qualified for the next round, Dean admitted there was more to come from him.

He said: "I'm happy to get over the line,  just about.

"I left a few games behind and didn't play that well today but the main thing is my name is in the draw for next week."

There will be further Irish interest in the ADC Global Championships on Monday when both Conor Heneghan and Niall Culleton will compete in Group 8.
