Republic of Ireland team captains Gerard McGlynn and Robyn Byrne have expressed their pride at both Irish teams winning the Islands International tournament in Clare over the weekend.
The Irish men's and ladies teams went unbeaten throughout the competition to be crowned the overall winners.
Donegal man McGlynn said it was an honour to lead out the Irish team to their latest international success, secured with impressive victories over Jersey, Isle of Man and Guernsey over two days of top class oche action.
Speaking afterwards, Gerard said: "It's a great honour to get my hands on this trophy as Ireland captain but I'm only accepting it on behalf of an unbelievable bunch of players. It was an absolute privilege to be involved with them all.
And he reserved special praise for Ireland team manager Kevin Devaney, who has added to his tally of international tournament wins, following on from leading the Ireland ladies team to WDF World Cup success last year.
Gerard said: "The one thing when you step up to play for Ireland as a player is that you want for nothing, you are really well looked after.
"Kevin is the best in class as a manager and he is achieving great things for Irish darts."
Ireland Ladies team captain Robyn echoed those sentiments, after her team also won all three games over Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man.
Robyn said: "Our own team were absolutely brilliant this weekend. We are putting Irish darts on the map and punch above our weight for such a small country.
"We owe a lot to the hard work of the INDO and Kevin because without them we wouldn't be the players we are today and get to experience tournaments like this and the Six Nations and the World Cup."
It proved to be an equally good weekend for Guernsey as both their teams finished second behind the strong Irish teams.
The Guernsey men showed their mettle on the oche as they recovered from an opening day 12-1 defeat to the hosts, Republic of Ireland, on Saturday to beat both the Isle of Man and Jersey on Sunday.
The 9-4 win over Jersey ensured that the Guernsey men would finish second to Ireland in the Islands International table, after they had earlier kept their nerve to beat Isle of Man 7-6 in a nail biting encounter.
There were some impressive performances from the Guernsey men, with both Phil Dodd and Neil Hutchinson hitting 13 darts legs in their win over Jersey.
The Guernsey ladies proved to be equally as successful, as they also beat the Isle of Men and Jersey 4-3 each, with their only defeat coming against a strong Ireland team, who are the current WDF World Cup champions.
Speaking afterwards, the Guernsey management team of Phill Dodd and Shaun Allez said they were extremely proud of how their teams performed at the tournament held in Treacys West County Hotel in Ennis, Clare.
Shaun said: "As a team, we have performed absolutely great. We're never going to beat Ireland, they are just a league above us but the games between Jersey and Isle of Man are always close so we were delighted to beat them."
Phill added: "This is always a great weekend for us. Darts is getting a little more popular in Guernsey now although we've lost a lot of players and we are trying to get more youngsters tp come through."
Jersey manager Craig Quemard said he was also pleased with how their teams performed across the weekend.
Craig said: "We focussed a lot on the darts and put a lot of practice in.
"For the men's team we won one game against the Isle of Man, that was our goal coming over here.
"It was always going to be a tough test against the Irish team, they are a phenomenal bunch of guys, but we got two legs off them."
Meanwhile, the Isle of Man's manager John Halsall said his team really enjoyed the experience of playing the competition in Ireland.
John said: "It's been absolutely brilliant, everyone has been so friendly.
"Our Ladies team have done alright while our men's were a bit unlucky in two of the games, as they got beat 7-6 in both of the games"
He said they are now looking to expand youth darts in the Isle of Man.
"We've got no youths system at the moment but we are looking to expand that and there's a few things being worked on in the background to see that happen."
