REPUBLIC of Ireland international Dean Finn said he thinks he proved a point with his recent strong run to the final at the Modus Super Series.
The Waterford darts star came within a whisker of making it to the Series 11 Champions Week, only missing out to an incredible 120 average from Dutchman Danny van Trijp in that final.
Dean is the latest guest on the Darts In Ireland podcast, where he will talk about his upcoming quest to win the WDF World Cup with the Irish team in South Korea later this month.
However, speaking to Darts In Ireland about his recent appearance on the Modus Super Series, Dean said he was delighted to have made the final after a slow start.
He has now made it to finals night on his two appearances on Modus, but reveals he felt disrespected at being labelled a rank outsider during his first outing on it last year.
Dean said: "I remember when the first time I was over there, I went in out of 12 players that week as the 22/1 least favourite, but this time I went into Group C as the 13/10 favourite to win the group, so it was a total different pressure.
"But when I went into the first one, I felt so disrespected at 22/1 that I had something to prove all week long and I feel like I proved it.
"I proved it again this time around too. They won't ever have me at 22/1 again."

Having something to prove certainly seems to spur Finn on at these big competitions.
In his most recent appearance on Modus last month, Finn qualified for finals night as the Group C runner up to David Davies.
That pitted him up against Group A winner, Raymond Smith and Danny Van Trijp, where he was again seen as a bit of an outsider, and used the comments of Modus commentator, Matthew Edgar, as inspiration.
He said: "When I made sure I was into finals night on Saturday, I know Matt Edgar didn't mean anything by it, but he said 'Dean won't be happy to be in this group'.
"When I looked back on that commentary I thought 'that's the group I want' as that would get me going.
"With Raymond Smith as favourite I was so up for that game. I remember half way through the game I nearly even felt like crying I was so up for it, especially as I was given no chance."
Finn ended up winning that game 4-1 and later progressed to the final by winning his last four clash 4-3 against David Davies.
He said he was just so happy to have performed so well at Modus again, and to give his family the opportunity to travel to the Live Lounge in Portsmouth to cheer him on.
He added: "I tried so hard to make finals night so my mother, father and girlfriend could be there to watch me.
"I've told them anyway on the two times I've gone over that I will be playing on the Saturday. I put that extra pressure on myself but thankfully it worked out.
