DEFEAT in last year's final will be one of the motivating factors spurring Cork on to go one better and finally land the INDO Inter Counties title.
The Rebels are certainly in confident form after recently winning the Munster Championships.
It's why Cork's Kevin McDonnell reckons they are in the right frame of mind to finally take back the holy grail.
Kevin told Darts In Ireland: "For Cork there would be no point in going down to the championships if we weren't confident we could win it.
"It's been a long time since we have actually won it, given there was a period in the 80s and 90s when Cork would win it almost every other year.
"Getting to the final last year was great and we came up against a very tough Donegal team, but it would be nice to go one better this year and win it."
While having bags of talent within their ranks helps, Kevin reckons the Cork players also have the right attitude to succeed.
He added: "They are long days at the Inter Counties now but our lads know how to look after themselves well and pace themselves through the day.
"Our younger players, in particular, are just interested in playing and being in good shape for that and that may well prove crucial for us."
Kevin said the Cork Ladies team will also be very much in the mix at the business end of the championships.
The Cork ladies, who won the INDO Inter Counties in 2023, were beaten semi-finalists last year, and also made it to the last four of the Munster Championships last month before losing out to eventual winners Waterford.
Kevin said: "Our Ladies team will be very dangerous as they know what it takes to win at these competitions.
"They have a strong core to the team.
"We could probably do with a few more younger girls coming through, but I don't think that issue is unique to Cork.
"That's something we need to look at and find more ways to promote the game amongst young girls and bring through more female players."
