GALWAY darts star Dylan Dowling enjoyed an excellent day at the PDC Challenger Tour winning seven games as he proved to be the best of the Irish across two events.

Dowling shot himself as far as the last 16 at Challenge Tour 8, chalking up some impressive wins along the way.

He began his day with a 5-2 victory over Sion Thomas of Wales, before averaging 88.52 in notching up another win over Dutchman Jamai van den Herik.

The put Dowling through on his board to a last 64 clash with fellow Irishman, Ultan McDyer, which he managed to edge by coming back from 4-1` down to win the last four legs and complete a 5-4 victory.

Next up for Dowling was a clash with England's Tommy Lishman, and he again showed his powers of recovery from winning the last three legs to win another match 5-4.

His luck ran out in the last 16, however, when he fell on the wrong side of a last leg defeat to eventual Event 8 runner up Scott Waites.

However, Dowling wasn't finished yet as he racked up another three wins in Challenge Tour 9.

He again needed to win a last leg decider to get past Jaikob Selby-Rivas, before posting an impressive 5-1 win over Holland's Jarno Bottenberg.

Dowling continued his good winning run as he beat another Dutchman, Levy Frauenfelder, to set up a last 32 clash with Event 8 winner Darius Labanauskas.

He crashed out at the point but will have been more happy with his day's work, which seen him pick up some crucial ranking money.
