DONEGAL darts star Derek Gallagher and Mayo's Catherine Fleming were the big winners on the opening day of the INDO Inter Counties B Championships in Killarney.
Derek came through a packed field of up to 300 players to be crowned the 2025 Inter Counties B champion following a night of high drama at the Gleneagle Hotel.
Gallagher had to come through eight intense games to win the championship, holding his nerve on stage in the final to beat Alan Cronin on Limerick.
His win in the final came just minutes after he had defeated Meath's Jimmy Murray 4-3 in his semi-final in what was one of the best games of the night.
Gallagher found himself 2-0 down in that semi-final, before he took out a stunning 106 finish, with his opponent sitting on a double, to get himself back into the game, and then winning three of the last four legs to advance to the final.
Meanwhile, in the ladies section, Mayo's Catherine Fleming was in equally impressive form as she beat Diana Zhukova 3-1 in a tense and tight final.
Catherine began her run to victory with a 3-1 win over Anne Connaughton in the last 32, before posting the same scoreline in further wins over Elizabeth Nolan and Megan Manning.
That put her through to a semi-final with Catherine Glennon, which Fleming won 3-0 to advance to the final against Diana Zhukova
She fell behind early in the final as Diana started off brightly, before coming back to win the game 3-1 to be crowned the 2025 INDO Inter Counties B ladies champion.
