THE Galway Ladies team run to the final of the INDO Inter Counties B championship is a source of great pride for the, their team manager said.
The Galway team made it to the final against Dublin after brilliant wins in the knockout stages over Wexford and Mayo.
They were then just pipped at the post in the final as Dublin came back from 2-1 down to win 3-2.
However, Galway team manager Ces Lally said it had been a brilliant weekend for Galway, with the Men's team also making it to the semi-finals.
Ces told Darts In Ireland: "It was brilliant for this Galway team to go all the way to the final as it's the first time the county has competed at the Bs.
"A lot of these girls haven't even played a competition like this before."
Galway's semi-final win over Mayo was particularly impressive, given their opponents had come through the group stages unbeaten and were one of the heavy favourites to win the championship outright.
However Galway were in excellent form as they capped off a 3-1 win over Mayo when Catherine Glennon hit a winning double top.
Ces said she was delighted her players kept their nerve in such a big game.
She said: "I think it all came down to nerves in the end really and thankfully our team got there."
She said the run to the final will do wonders for Ladies darts in Galway.
"Hopefully it will attract in some new players as we could do with some extra numbers in Galway," Ces said.
"It's a brilliant achievement for the team."
