Byrne wins battle of the Irish to remain in Modus contention

ROBYN Byrne won two of her final three games of the day to keep herself in contention following the first day of Group C action at the Modus Super Series.

Her final win  came against fellow Irish darts star Katie Sheldon to leave Byrne within touching distance of the top two qualifying spots with another day to go.

However both Irish players had a tough day at the office in what is a very tough group, with Byrne losing three of her first four games to Paige Pauling, Trina Gulliver and Vicky Prium, while Sheldon is still searching for her first win.

Katie can count herself very unlucky, however, with three of her games being decided in the last leg.

Robyn has kept her chances of qualifying for finals night alive with a 3-2 win over Kirsty Hutchinson, before also completing a 3-1 win over Sheldon.

It leaves her four points off Trina Gulliver in second place, with two to qualify from the group, meaning Byrne will need a big day tomorrow if she is to advance.
