THE Irish duo of Shane McGuirk and John O'Shea just missed out on a spot in the semi-finals of the Modus Super Series International Pairs after they were squeezed out in a dramatic nine dart shootout.
The shootout was required after Ireland, Scotland and Belgium couldn't be separated at the end of their group games.
McGuirk and O'Shea were on the ropes after losing their opening game of the night 4-1 to Belgium.
However they quickly dragged themselves back into contention by beating Scotland by the same scoreline.
That sent Group 1 into the dramatic nine dart shootout.
Scotland's Scott Campbell was the hero in that as he hit two 180s in the shootout to qualify them as group winners, with Belgium just beating Ireland by three points to take the second semi-final spot.
It was a harsh exit for the Irish lads after a strong few days of play from them.
