O'Shea in contention for Modus finals night

CORK'S John O'Shea is well placed to qualify for the Modus Super Series finals night with one more round of Group B action to go later this evening.

The Joker currently sits second in the Group B table following a strong opening night's action last night.

The former World Masters champion opened with a bang by winning his first two games against Alec Small and James Lewis without dropping a leg.

He only missed out on topping the group outright after losing in a last leg decider to group leader Graham Hall in a top class contest in which Hall averaged a superb 105.68.

That win for Hall ensured he topped the group on eight points, with O'Shea equal on four points with Jamie Owens and Alec Small, but ahead of them on leg difference.

It means two more wins for O'Shea tonight should be enough to see him advance to finals night tomorrow night and the chance to pick up the weekly £5,000 prize and also qualify for Champions Week.
