IRELAND ladies captain Robyn Byrne has secured her spot at the PDC World Matchplay in Blackpool next month after finishing well inside the top eight in the Women's Series ranking table.
Byrne's fifth place finish in the Matchplay order of merit means she will now lock horns with veteran Lisa Ashton when the tournament takes place at Blackpool's Winter Gardens on Sunday, July 27.
Byrne, a Matchplay semi-finalist in 2023, will be looking to at least match that feat again having enjoyed an excellent year on the PDC Women's Series, winning one event and making three more finals.
It's that form that saw Byrne secure her fifth place finish, just one position below fourth placed Ashton, who beat her in the semi-finals of Event 11 back in April.
Byrne didn't have one of her better weekends at the Women's Series this weekend, with a last 32 in Event 13 her best run over the final four events.
However her fellow Irish world cup players Aoife McCormack and Denise Cassidy fared better as they both made runs in the last eight over the final two events.

Donegal star Cassidy displayed her consistency throughout the weekend as she made it to the last 16 of Event 14 on Saturday.it to
She bettered that on Sunday by making it to the last eight of Event 15, which included wins over Finland's Sari Wallin and Liiri Maret, Germany's Silvia Lindner and England's Jo Locke, for the loss of just two legs in the process.
She eventually lost out in her quarter final clash with England's Steph Clarke, but will have picked up a decent haul of rankings money over the weekend.

It was a similar story for Kilkenny's Aoife McCormack as she made it to the last eight of event 16 on Sunday.
McCormack's run saw her pick up wins over three English players, Amy Evans, Kirsty Hutchinson and Debra Watling to advance to a quarter final clash with Lisa Ashton.
She gave herself every chance of making it into the last four as she 4-3 in a race to five before Ashton rattled off the final two legs in just 32 darts to squeeze over the line in a last leg decider.
Meanwhile, Dublin's Katie Sheldon remains in the top ten of the 2025 PDC Women's Series order of merit as she made it to the last 16 of Event 13 on Saturday.
