CONOR Heneghan has put himself in a good place to qualify for finals night at the Modus Super Series after finishing off his first round of games in second place in Group B.
The Mayo man is aiming to become the third Irish player on the trot to win a week at Modus after Cork's John O'Shea and Monaghan's Shane McGuirk were the winners over the past two weeks.
The first part of that task is for Heneghan to qualify out of Group B and he is currently on course to do that after picking up two crucial wins on Thursday night.
However there is little margin for error as he sits two point adrift of group leader Joe Croft and tied on four points with Justin Smith and Reece Colley, with only three out of the four able to qualify for finals night.
It means Heneghan will need to pick up at least two more wins when the final round of Group B games are played tonight.
Heneghan suffered a 4-3 defeat in his first Group B to Justin Smith, but recovered from that to whitewash group leader Joe Croft 4-0 with an impressive 92.49 average.
A 4-1 win over Reece Colley gave Heneghan the chance to take the outright lead in the group.
However he slipped up in last match to David Fatum to leave the group delicately poised with just two points now separating the top four.
Heneghan will be hoping to revenge that defeat to Fatum in his opening match tonight, when a victory then would surely put him on course to make finals night.
