LOUTH darts sensation Damien Grimes has added more success to his growing list of achievements by claiming a spot at the Modus Super Series.
The reigning INDO Inter Counties singles champion came through a tough field at the ADC Ireland regional qualifiers in Clonmel on Saturday to qualify for Modus.
He took down some notable scalps along the way with superb consistent performances throughout the day to win the hotly contested qualifiers.
Grimes began his day with a 6-4 win over Eric Cleary, before averaging an impressive 90.59 to advance to the quarter finals with a 6-1 win over Bernie Ward.
That set up a clash with Ireland captain Stephen Rosney in the last eight, with Grines producing his best performance of the day with a 92.93 average to defeat Rosney 6-5.
Grimes' ability to keep his cool in last leg deciders came to the fore again in the semi-final when he edged out Dublin's Sean McKeon in another 6-5 scoreline.
That put him through to a final with Galway's Dylan Dowling, with Grimes once again showing why he's now one of the most feared players in the county as he came through with a 6-2 win on an 82.32 average.
It means the Louth man will now claim a spot at an upcoming series of Modus, where his fellow Irish players have certainly been leaving their mark of late.
