SHANE McGuirk had a better days at the Modus Super Series Champions Week today as he picked up his opening two Group A wins.
The Monaghan man ensured an unusually difficult first day as he failed to pick up any points that left him with an uphill battle for the rest of the week.
However he set about changing that today as he defeated Scott Taylor and group leader Graham Usher to give himself four points going into the final day of Group A action tomorrow.
Only for a last leg defeat in his final match against Derek Coulson, McGuirk could have ended the day on six points and with still an outside chance of advancing to Group B.
However it's now looking more likely that he will end up in the more difficult Group C, where just two players from six will advance to finals night later in the week.
McGuirk began his day today with a 4-2 defeat to Dutchman Jimmy van Schie, but recovered to win two of his next three matches over Taylor and Usher.
That gave him a fighting chance of getting back into the group but defeats to Jurjen Van Der Velde and to Coulson means The Arrow will need an incredible run of results tomorrow if he was to finish in the top three and claim a spot in Group B, where three out of five players will qualify for finals night.
