HE was one of the big stars of the INDO Masters weekend in Ballina by making it to two finals, and now Tyler O'Connor has a big goal in mind.
"I will really try to make the Ireland team this year," Tyler told Darts In Ireland after his brilliant weekend saw him win Event Four of the INDO Players Championships Division C and finish runner-up in the INDO Boys Matchplay a day later.
His run to the Division C final in the Players Championships wasn't a surprise given Tyler has been knocking on the door over the previous events in the competition.
He was beaten in the last eight of Event Two by the Division C leader, Chris Mention, and then in the semi-finals of Event 3 by the same opponent.
So Tyler said he was thrilled to finally get over the line this time, especially as he beat his nemesis, Menton, 5-3 in the final.
He said; "I was wondering when my time was going to come. Chris Menton was beating me in quarter finals and semi finals so I'm glad to finally get one over on him as he's playing absolutely unbelievable darts recently, so I just glad to get that win."
The victory has pushed Tyler up to third in the Division C table and earmarked out as one of the favourites, alongside Chris, to go on and win it outright.

He then maintained that form on Saturday by making it all the way to the final of the INDO Boys Matchplay, only losing out in a last leg decider in that to an inspired Jamie Farrell.
Tyler's run saw him top his group, losing just one leg in the process, before he won four knockout on the spin to make the final.
He said: "I wasn't really playing that well in the group stages but once I got into the knockout stages and the later parts of the day I just kept on getting better and better and just got to point where I was confident I could win those games.
"I'm really happy with my performances in the Matchplay. Jamie Farrell played absolutely unbelievable in that final, like there wasn't much really I could do.
"But I was really glad overall just to have made it to the final and then to make that game 4-3, so I was happy with that."
Meanwhile Tyler, who will be representing the Ireland Youth B team at the JDC World Cup in Gibraltar, now has his eye on making a future Republic of Ireland Boys team through the INDO ranking events.
He currently sits in 7th place in the Boys ranking table, with the top four qualifying for next year's WDF Youth Europe Cup, which will be in Ireland next year.
He said: "I will really try to make the Ireland team this year. I have already made one in the JDC but I'm really trying to get an INDO one under my belt as well."
