A crucial last leg win in his final match of the day has ensured that Irish darts star Damien Grimes has remained top of the Group A table at the Modus Super Series.
The Louth man consolidated his sensational first day in the competition by winning two more games, that keeps him just above the chasing pack in an incredibly tight group.
Remarkably all six players still stand a chance of either winning the group or at least finishing in the top three to enter Group B on Thursday.
But it is Grimes who is still in poll position, despite enduring a much second day.
His 4-3 win over Jamie Kelling in his final game today may yet prove to be Grimes's most crucial win of the week.
It means he is out on top with 12 points, two ahead of four players all tied on 10, with bottom of the table, Steve West, still in with a shout on 8 points.
Grimes had earlier suffered some heavy defeats to John Engstrom, Jim McEwan and Jimmy Van Schie to put dent in his hopes and his leg difference.
However he showed some excellent spirit and form, too, by picking up another crucial 4-3 win over Steve West.
Tomorrow will be the final day of action in Group A, when Grimes will be aiming to hold on to top spot and claim qualification for finals night on Saturday.
