Euro Tour joy for O'Connor and Lennon

LIMERICK'S Willie O'Connor was one of the big winners at the PDC Euro Tour qualifiers in Germany today as he made it through to both events.

The Magpie was in superb form in Hildesheim as he lost just 11 legs all day as he stormed through the two qualifying events.

It means he will now play at both the Swiss Darts Trophy  in Basel later this month, before the 2025 European Tour season concludes with the German Darts Championship in Hildesheim from October 17-19.

He was only one of two players to achieve the feat today, with Callan Ridz also qualifying for both.

O'Connor kicked off his day in Euro Tour 13 qualifying by whitewashing Rob Owen 6-0, before then going on to beat Wesley Plaiser 6-2 and Matthew Dennant by the same scoreline to gain his spot at the Swiss Darts Trophy.

He wasn't finished there, however, as he then went on to qualify for Euro Tour 14 also.

This time O'Connor beat Martin Dragt 6-3 and then Jim Long and Maik Kuivenhoven 6-2 each to successfully complete another qualifying campaign.

Meanwhile, O'Connor's former World Cup finalist partner, Steve Lennon, also had a good day at the qualifiers.

The Carlow man also came through the Euro 14 event to take his place in the German Darts Championship next month.

He did so by defeating Mensur Suljovic 6-3 in his opening match, before also recording victories over England's Thomas Lovely and Robert Grundy to secure his qualification.

There was no such joy for Meath's Keane Barry, however, as he fell at the final hurdle to England's Tom Bissell.
