Big day needed for Byrne at Modus

IRISH darts star Robyn Byrne needs a near perfect day today if she is to advance from a tough Group C at the Modus Super Series.

The Republic of Ireland international captain picked up just one win on her opening day of Group C action yesterday, leaving her four points adrift of the qualifying spots for finals night.

However it is the exact same situation as she found herself in the last time she competed at Modus, when she went on to not just qualify from her group but advance all the way to the final.

Byrne's solitary win on Thursday came courtesy of an impressive 3-1 victory over Scotland's Lorraine Hyde.

A win in her final game of the day against another Scot, Sophie McKinlay, would have kept Byrne in touching distance of the Group C leader Kirsi Vinikainen.

A 3-1 defeat in that game, however, means Byrne will need to win almost all her games today to stand any chance if making finals night.
