DONEGAL darts star Chris Dunnion says he's looking forward to his "shot at the big time" after qualifying for the WDF World Masters in Las Vegas by winning the INDO Players Championship Division B.
Chris secured the big win with a victory over Dublin's Aidan Gallagher in the final last Friday night, to cap off a brilliant Players Championship campaign for him.
Division B had been one of the most competitive divisions in the Players Championship all year, so to come out on top of it gave Chris an added bit of satisfaction.
He told Darts In Ireland: "It was a very competitive division and maybe some of the guys didn't perform to their best on the finals night, whereas I did, so I'm very happy with that.
"To get over the line in the final, with the carrot at the end of it being Las Vegas, it's just unbelievable."
When asked if the incredibly high standard of darts in Donegal had helped him, Chris, who will play for the county's B team at the INDO Inter Counties next weekend, replied: "Absolutely."
He added: "I've playing week-in, week-out against players of the calibre of Butch Devine and Dean Gallagher and that has taken my game on."
His Players Championship win comes in a year when Chris also had the honour of hitting a nine dart finish in competition, while he's also had some impressive runs at INDO ranking events.
"Hitting the nine dart finish was the icing on the cake of it all," Chris said.
"It's an unbelievable year I've had. And we're going to Vegas now, it's mad. I'm just going to enjoy every minute of it."
Meanwhile, Chris said he hopes the Players Championships can be maintained as part of the INDO calendar.
He said the championships, which was split into three divisions based on averages, gave every player in the country a chance to dream big as the winner of each division secured a spot at the WDF World Masters.
"The Players Championship was brilliant as it gave every player a chance," Chris said.
"The players in the B and C divisions really bought into it and they all went for it, so I thought it was fantastic and hopefully it carries on.
"It gives us all a shot at the big time."
