FEW other counties have won as much silverware as Galway have over the pasts months leading up to the INDO Inter Counties championships.
Crowned the Connacht Cup champions last September, Galway added the Limerick invitational trophy just a month later and then won the shield at the West Coast Challenge in Limerick last month.
It's a sign of the high standards they have set themselves, that manager Kevin Devaney expressed some disappointment that it was only the shield that Galway won at that final tournament.
Kevin said: "This Galway team has been in very good form, which we showed by winning the Connacht Cup and then the Limerick invitational on top of that.
"The only disappointment came at the West Coast Challenge when we failed to come out of a tough group but we at least managed to go on then and win the shield and take some silverware out of it."
Kevin reckons that the big game experience amongst a lot of his squad will stand to them if they do make the latter stages of this year's Inter Counties.
Galway reached the last 16 last year and Kevin reckons a much stronger run could be on the cards this year.
"We have lads like Dimitry Zhukov and Gavin Murphy who have played at the Modus Live Lounge, Dylan Dowling will also do that soon too and Liam Gallagher has played on Sky.
"So we have players who know what it's like to play on the big stage and that could be crucial for us.
"The focus will be on getting out of the group on Saturday and then keeping our focus to get past that first game on the Sunday and then anything can happen."
Kevin said the Galway Ladies team also have the pedigree to mount a serious challenge for success this year.
He added: "Our Ladies team have a lot of good players who probably haven't been getting the results they can do.
"There is a lot of experience in that team, with Caroline Been playing for Ireland and Cess Lally must have played more years in county darts than other player in Ireland.
"If they can get a bit of luck they can go on a great run and pull something special out."
