Laois to give it a lash in Killarney

EXCITEMENT is building in Laois ahead of what they hope will be a successful Inter Counties stint in Killarney.

With all the preparation now down, Laois co-manager Shane Mooney says he can't wait to get cracking at the INEC Arena this weekend.

Shane says they will hope to better last year's performance, which saw a run to the semi-finals for the Laois women, and the last eight of the shield for the men,.

Shane told Darts In Ireland: "I can't wait for it all too kick off now.

"I suppose for the Laois men, we will be looking at first to try and get out of our group and make the knockouts for the main competition.

"The Ladies had a great run to the semi-finals last year, only losing out to Dublin, who went on to win, so it shows they are not far off."

Shane said preparation has been good for Laois and they go into the championships in confident mood.

He added: "We had big numbers at our trials this years, which is great, and youth darts in the county is strong also.

"Playing at the Leinster Championships last month is good preparation for our teams too,

"If we get a bit of luck along the way, then there's no reason why both our teams can't do well this weekend."
